Qualifications

This Citation is intended to recognize individuals for dedicated service to the Society over a sustained period of time. Particular emphasis is to be placed on service performed at the Section level, including, but not limited to, services performed at Section meetings, special Section meetings, and Society Conferences.
This Citation is not intended to recognize technological achievement, service in Society Offices, or services, which may be more appropriately recognized by the Society Citation or other medals or awards.

Five individuals may be selected annually but discretion is strongly advised.

The Committee shall have at least one face-to-face meeting or telephone conference call to discuss qualifications of all candidates for this citation prior to final balloting.

Citation for Outstanding Service Award Committee:

The selection committee consists of

  • Sections Vice-President as Chair
  • Engineering Vice-President
  • Editorial Vice-President
  • Conference Vice-President
  • International Relations Committee Chair

The Committee has a minimum at least one face-to-face meeting or telephone conference call to discuss qualifications of all candidates for this citation prior to final balloting.

Balloting Procedures

Nominations for this Citation are solicited from each Section of the Society by the Sections Vice-President.

Additional nominations may be made by any member of the Society.

If more than five individuals are nominated in a single year, the committee will have a preferential ballot, where candidates are scored and ranked.  The five top scoring candidates are then considered in the final balloting.
These five candidates (or fewer, if less than five are nominated and preferential balloting is not needed) are listed on a final ballot, and committee members vote to either accept or reject the nominee for receipt of the award.   Each nominee receiving three or more votes of acceptance shall be granted the Citation subject to approval of the Executive Committee and the Board of Governors at their meeting in June.
