SMPTE Task Force on 3D to the Home

Inaugural Meeting Details

REGISTRATION FOR THIS MEETING IS CLOSED

Information for attendees

The Work Statement, previously approved by the SMPTE Standards Committee, is the official definition of the work of the Task Force

PLEASE READ: Conditions of attendance and Instructions for continued participation in the Task Force

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) has formed a Task Force on "3D Home Display Formats." The purpose of this effort is to define what content mastering standards would be needed to establish easy distribution of stereoscopic image content via multiple types of distribution channels (e.g. packaged, broadcast, satellite, cable, internet) for the purpose of rapid adoption of this content on a fixed home display.

The Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) will host the inaugural meeting of the Task Force at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles on 19 August 2008. This meeting will be open to all (subject to available space), but membership in the SMPTE Standards Community will be required for ongoing participation in the Task Force. All Standards Community members must execute a Statement of Participation; participation is free for SMPTE members, but requires a fee of $125/year for non-members.

Demonstrations of technologies in this space will be provided.

A phone bridge will be provided; if you are unable to attend in person but wish to monitor this meeting please register for the phone bridge--call-in details will be provided shortly before the meeting.

SMPTE gratefully acknowledges the support of ETC in sponsoring this event.
