Media Forward connects high school and college students with the future of media technology. Join professionals in broadcast, digital media, livestreaming, and more, as they give insights in to their everyday work as well as share their ideas about the future of the business.
The event is open to all students from high school through graduate students. We encourage SMPTE members to come support and get to know the next generation of media technology professionals. The event is offered at no charge; however, pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
This event is produced by the Washington DC Section of The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), a global organization of media professionals and technologists, in conjunction with Montgomery College Department of Media Arts & Technologies.
About Media Forward:
Media Forward builds careers in media technologies and associated fields, providing students with the technical knowledge and an understanding of what it takes to succeed in the technical and production areas of the media industry today. Students will have opportunities to learn about the industry and career opportunities while networking with leading media professionals.
SMPTE is a global professional organization focused on driving the quality and evolution of motion pictures, television, and professional media through our global society of technologists, developers, and creatives by setting industry standards, providing relevant education, and fostering an engaged membership community. We enable the technical framework and global professional community that makes motion picture, television and professional media available for all humanity to enjoy for artistic, educational, and social purposes.
Do I need to register to attend?
Yes, please register. The event may fill up, so we may have to refuse walk-ins. Registration also helps us plan for the event organization and refreshments. There is no cost for individuals to regsiter. Please register at:
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
The event is open to all students include middle and high school, college, vocational, and graduate studies. Parents of younger students are welcome to attend.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Montgomery College campus map and directions (for car/metro/bus) can be found here. The event is in the Theatre Arts Building (TA) in the center of campus. Enter campus from Rockville Pike (Route 355 / Hungerford Dr.) and park in the North Garage (NG) or in Lot 5. Follow signs to the TA entrance near the flag poles.
What can I bring into the event?
You do not need to bring anything, but laptops and recording devices are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
