SMPTE technical sessions at IBC include High-Definition TV: New
Formats, New Challenges, New Opportunities, on Saturday, Sept. 8 at
10:00 a.m., and Making Movies in 3-D, presented in association with the
European Digital Cinema Forum, on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 3:15 p.m. Also, as
a part-owner/partner in IBC, folks can visit the SMPTE area in the
Partnership Village during the convention. SMPTE members are also
invited to a membership reception on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 6-8 p.m. in

If you can donate about 20 hours of your time as an assistant to our
conference committee you will receive a free badge for each day of
scheduled service, thus saving you the full registration fee. The 20
hours is total hours worked over the course of the conference. We can
use your help in many areas: audio-visual, registration, membership,
speaker’s lounge, technical sessions, directional staff, student lounge,
pressroom and more.

Digital Cinema Forum

The Case of 3D Stereoscopic Movies: Production,
Distribution and Exhibition

September 5, 2007 • “Sala Pasinetti” of the Palazzo del
Cinema at the Lido di Venezia

Organized by SMPTE in co-operation with the Fondazione La Biennale
di Venezia at the 64th Venice Film Festival.

The 3D stereoscopic movies are already reaping strong
interest and returns on investments: 3D equals 3x the revenue.
