Another Emmy for SMPTE
The National Academy for Television Arts and Sciences has once again recognized the Society for its outstanding contributions to industry standards, this time for the development and standardization of file formats for audio and video, specifically for development of the MXF file format.  The award will be presented at a ceremony held in conjunction with the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January 2009.

SMPTE PDA Anywhere: DTV Transition - The Bigger Picture Recording Now available
The November 13, 2008 SMPTE PDA Now event, "DTV Transition - The Bigger Picture", was a very popular event and contained a lot of very useful information. Bill Hayes of IPTV and Matthew Goldman of Tandberg Television, plus Moderator Tom Butts of TV Technology Magazine all did an outstanding job. If you were unable to participate in the live event, you are in luck!
