DTV Transition Coalition
Many television stations are starting to broadcast their programs using digital technology instead of the traditional analog format. In fact, all full power television broadcasters must cease transmission of analog television signals by Midnight on February 19, 2009. From that moment onward, only digital television signals will be available over the air. This change affects only those television stations picked up “off-air”. Cable and satellite services are not affected.
Lou Wolf Memorial Scholarship
The Lou Wolf Memorial Scholarship is designed to help students further their undergraduate or graduate studies in motion pictures and television, with an emphasis on technology. The amount of the scholarship will be up to $2,000. [Apply Now]
SMPTE Student Paper Award
The purpose of this award to recognize the outstanding paper prepared and submitted by a Student Member. The paper receiving the Student Paper Award will be published in the SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal, giving recognition to the author and the institution at which the work was done. The Award winner will also receive a full conference registration to the 2009 SMPTE Technical Conference and Exhibition in Hollywood, CA, where they will be recognized at the Honors and Awards Ceremony.
