2009 SMPTE Technical Conference Updates on SMPTE 365
The IBC updates posted on SMPTE were very well received so SMPTE will bring the concept to the 2009 SMPTE Technical Conference scheduled for October 27 - 29 in Hollywood. You can expect videos containing observations and comments from conference attendees, program committee members, members of SMPTE's Board of Governors, and the exhibit floor. We'll bring along our video camera looking for interesting tutorial type opportunities from SMPTE Conference exhibitors and post them to the conference update site.
To get the ball rolling we've posted "3 Questions" in the 2009 SMPTE Conference Community. Simply go to www.smpte365.org and you will see the 2009 SMPTE Technical Conference Community in the "Featured Community" area. Go to the Conference Discussion Home and post your answers.
Have you ever blogged? SMPTE 365 needs bloggers!
Not sure what a blog is? Blog is a contraction of the term "web log" and it is a way to communicate with others. Bloggers generally share information about themselves, projects on which they are working, and day to day observations about the world in general. The life blood of any community is the people who live in it. This is true of all communities real or virtual. SMPTE 365 is no exception. If you found yourself saying something like "No one ever posts anything!", ask yourself, "What was the last item I posted on SMPTE 365?" If you've never done it, do it now! If it's been a while, do it again!
No need to be nervous or shy. SMPTE 365 is all about SMPTE Members and they WANT to hear from you!
So write a blog or upload a file or join one of the communities in SMPTE 365. The value you get out of YOUR professional online community of practice is directly proportional to what you contribute to it.
