SMPTE Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education Student Chapter members were invited to take part in two seminars during the Filmart 2007. Filmart is a festival to promote Hong Kong as the regional hub for distribution and production of film, TV programs, cross-media and entertainment-related products in Asia Public.
The members attended a seminar in the morning on March 21. Mr. Percy Fung of Digital Magic Limited was the speaker of the seminar. Mr. Fung shared the digital film making workflow including the 35mm film output process. Furthermore, he presented the digital kinescope transfer of video to 35mm film, using contents originated from HDCamera SR, HDCamera, DVCproHD, XDCamera, HVX/P2. He also shared the current digital film making technology service updates on the digital intermediate process with film master from 35mm, Super 35mm. 16 mm, Super 16mm and the digital cinema DCDM/DCP screening with HDCamera SR 4:4:4 and the Sony 4K projector.
In the afternoon, the members attended the other seminar held by Salon Films Group. During the presentation, Mr. Tony Ngai, the marketing manager of Salon Films shared the updates of the application of the Genesis HD Camera in the recent major Hollywood feature films. He also presented the usage of the Cable Camera System. The second part of sharing was presented by Henry Chung (HKSC) shared his experience on Stereoscopic 3D in HD format. After that, he provided a live demonstration of 3D in HD format movie projection on large screening. Members got many experience and production technology updated from different speakers.
After attending the seminars, the members visited the FilmMart exhibition and toured around the display booths which included the Locations World Area, TV World Area. The members also visited the Hong Kong Music Fair.
