White Plains, NY, 21 December 2012 – The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), the worldwide leader in motion-imaging standards and education for the communications, media, entertainment, and technology industries, today announced that it will bring its popular seminar on multi-platform content generation and automation to the U.K. Already successfully presented to more than 200 technologists in Toronto, Montreal, and Washington, D.C., this one-day seminar, which takes place on 6 February in London and 7 February in Salford, Manchester, is free to Society members through the generous support of the BBC Academy. Registration and additional information are available at https://www.smpte.org/seminars.
As broadband, mobile, and Internet technologies continue to remake business models across the digital media ecosystem, the SMPTE seminar is designed to help professionals create content without having to worry a great deal about its ultimate distribution platform or display device.
Presented by the noted subject-matter experts Bruce Devlin and Ben Davenport, both of AmberFin, the SMPTE seminar provides an interactive educational experience. Its topics include the technological differences between the types and formats of various multi-platform distribution systems and display devices; the technologies and processes for generating/automating content for iPad/iPhone and Android tablet/phone devices, set-top-boxes, satellite receivers, computers, and connected televisions; and effective workflows for multi-platform display and distribution.
The seminar will also discuss the potential impact of new and emerging SMPTE and other standards such as the Interoperable Master Format (IMF), which creates a set of master files and associated metadata for the interchange and automated creation of downstream distribution packages.
