Leading European broadcast magazine names SMPTE industry partner for 2012 3D Masters Event
SMPTE Forum On Emerging Technologies ● 13 - 15 May 2012 ● Geneva
Amsterdam, The Netherlands - 10 September 2011 – In advance of their unprecedented joint symposium next spring - The Forum on Emerging Media Technologies – the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE) and the European Broadcast Union (EBU) today announced that TVB Europe, one of the continent’s leading and award-winning broadcast magazines, will become a media partner for the symposium, which takes place next May in Geneva (www.smpte.org/events/TheForum/).
In a related move, TVB Europe today announced SMPTE as an industry partner for its 2012 3D Masters event to be held in June 2012 in London.
SMPTE and the EBU made their announcement prior to convening a panel discussion at IBC 2011 that provided an early look at how the Geneva symposium will use a noncommercial, science-driven approach to focus on technologies likely to come onto the market in the next three years and those whose commercialization is a decade away. The Forum is emblematic of the leadership role SMPTE is taking to drive standards that will accelerate industry expansion and business success.
“The high-quality, award-winning content of TVB Europe and its strong presence throughout Europe make it a perfect fit for the Forum symposium,” said SMPTE Executive Director Barbara Lange. “We are thrilled to have the magazine as a media partner and to be an industry partner for TVB Europe’s 3D Masters event.”
“SMPTE is well-known among our readers for its strong, science-driven standards and they will be keening interested in how the Society takes this same clear-eyed, noncommercial approach to sorting out the technology landscape of the next decade,” said Fergal Ringrose, editor of TVB Europe. “We are very pleased to be a media partner for The Forum symposium and to have SMPTE as an industry partner for our 3D Masters event.”
