Early-Bird Registration Ends 31 January
White Plains, NY, 24 January 2012 – The Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE) today announced that Martin Guillaume, the IBM Global Business Services leader for media in the UK and Ireland, will join a distinguished panel of industry leaders to discuss the kinds of business models and overall structures media companies will need to be successful in the next 10 to 15 years at the SMPTE Forum on Emerging Media Technologies, an executive-level symposium to be held by the Society on 13-15 May in Geneva and produced in collaboration with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
The early-bird registration for the symposium ends 31 January.
With content distributed across more channels than ever before and consumers multi-tasking across multiple screens, Guillaume will discuss how analytical tools can enable the media companies of the future to understand, predict, and act upon changes in consumer behavior – and use these deep insights to ensure the best possible consumer experience and business practices.
He will share his insights as a member of The Forum panel “Show Me Where The Money Is.”
Since joining IBM in 2007, Guillaume has focused on delivering digital business-enablement solutions to leading broadcasters and publishers across Europe. He has also served as CTO in a Goldman Sachs-owned private equity firm focused on technology investments, built and ran Bertelsmann's electronic commerce platform worldwide, and managed the enterprise-wide royalty management system at Sony Music Entertainment.
“Martin’s experience across enterprise-class media organizations and his focus on driving bottom-line benefits to his clients through innovation and technology-enabled transformation make him an outstanding choice for The Forum and we are delighted to have him participate,” said David Wood of the EBU and the chair of the symposium’s program committee.
Other executive presenters at The SMPTE Forum include those from ABC Australia, ATSC, BSkyB, EBU, Ericsson, the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, Grass Valley, Intel, NHK, Radio Bremen, Radio Television Hong Kong, Screen Digest, Sony, the Sports Video Group, Warner Bros., and zeebox.
The SMPTE Forum on Emerging Media technologies is the only symposium to bring together leading motion-imaging technologists, researchers, scientists, practitioners, manufacturers, and strategic thinkers. Over course of two days, it will provide a science-based, non-commercial opportunity for executives and other senior leaders from the broadcast, broadband, and cinema industries to discuss the most important and innovative research taking place over the next 10-15 years, with a particular focus on technologies likely to come to market within the next three years. All in an environment designed for easy networking.
Program and registration information for The Forum is available at www.smpteforum.org. Regular updates will also be available via Twitter at #forum2012.
