Were you born to rock? Well this October you'll have a chance to party like a SMPTE Rock Star at the 2011 Annual Technical Conference & Expo in Hollywood, CA. SMPTE will be holding its first Battle of the Bands during a poolside reception on the evening of 26 October.
We are looking for people (members and non-members) who are interested in participating in this event, either as musicians, or as volunteers to work on the event. Interested Conference and Expo attendees, exhibitors, speakers, and SMPTE Staff will be formed into bands that will perform a minimum of two songs of their choosing during the event. You can choose your bandmates, or we can match you up with a group. You'll have to work on your song selection before the event and then each band will have rehearsal time scheduled during the conference. Then on Wednesday night, 26 October, the bands will battle it out for bragging rights and fabulous prizes!
If you're interested in participating, please e-mail Sally-Ann D'Amato at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Be sure to include your preferred form of participation (musician or volunteer, instruments played, etc.)
Practical Steps In Implementing An Effective File Based Workflow
The 2011 SMPTE Regional Seminars were held during May in the following Sections:
"We are pleased to recognize Alan Popkin, Director of TV Engineering at KLCS-TV/DT and Paul Turner, Vice President of Broadcast Market Development at Harmonic," noted Joel E. Welch, SMPTE's Director of Professional Development. "They provided the content and then delivered four exceptional seminars. It is this level of support and commitment to industry education that allows the Society to provide its Members with such high quality, relevant educational opportunities"
In addition to the efforts of the instructors, it is important to recognize the support provided by the four host Sections. They helped organize venues, audio-visual support and truly gave the seminars a home.
This was truly a team effort. Thanks to all involved!
