SMPTE's Archive eXchange Format (AXF): Simplified Digital Media Archive

Guest Speakers: Brian Campanotti, CTO, Front Porch Digital; S. Merrill Weiss, President, Merrill Weiss Group LLC

When: 26 July 2012 at 17:00 UTC/13:00 Eastern/10:00 Pacific PDA Sponsor Block

There has been an explosion of digital media production in recent years, as you know. As the digital media production increases, so does the need to store and preserve it. One of the challenges with content storage lies in the vast number of systems that exist today, many of which are not based on interoperable technologies. Enter the Archive eXchange Format (AXF), which promises to help address the challenges of incompatible media storage, archive and preservation systems. Our speakers will further explain why this has been such a challenge, how we got where we are, and how the AXF standard effort from SMPTE, currently in the works, will help resolve many of them.
