Florida Sub-section

The next SMPTE Florida meeting is on Wednesday February 4th at Frontline Communications located at 12770 44th Street North, in Clearwater, FL 33762.

After the presentations you'll be able to visit Frontline Communications' production floor and see their incredible truck manufacturing ability as a tour of the facility will be part of the evening's agenda.

Dinner is courtesy of the presenters and starts at 6:30 pm. Presentations will start at 7:15 pm and cover two very interesting subjects.

First; Advanced Streaming Technology (AST) and Professional Streaming Services (PST) as used in JVCKENWOOD's cameras and presented by Edgar Shane, General Manager of Engineering for JVC Professional Products.  Mr. Shane has more than 25 years of experience in electronics and specializes in digital video software solutions and 2K/4K workflow optimization.  He joined JVC 15 years ago and received his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1986 and then worked as a design engineer for more than 10 years,

Second: "Design Considerations for Live and Mobile Production Systems based on IP Infrastructure"  presented by Mr. Don Morgan of Grass Valley-A Belden Brand. As IP technology platforms continue to emerge in Broadcast System Design solutions, Live and Mobile Production Systems based on IP infrastructure can prove to be the most challenging. This presentation will highlight some of these challenges as well as some of the benefits that IP infrastructure can bring to Live and Mobile system solutions.  Mr. Morgan has over 30 years of Broadcast industry experience.  He is currently a Senior Solutions Architect for Grass Valley.

We will also present the latest information on the 2015 Sub-Chapter Elections as well as an update on our chapter vs sub-chapter status.
