Joint SMPTE/SBE Meeting
Media Asset Management: Linking Broadcast Workflows for Content Management
Modern Media Asset Management (“MAM”) systems share multiple meanings, can have great depth and dimension, and often may convey enormous confusion. MAM, affectionately known by its ancillary counterparts - Digital (DAM), Production (PAM), Content (CMS) and just plain Asset Management (AMS) - is perhaps the most talked about set of services in media. Not to be outdone by the terms ‘workflow’ and ‘metadata’; MAM is ultimately a value proposition with wide reaching touch points regardless of how large or small your organization is. This presentation will provide an overview of what MAM is, where and how MAM is used, and why it is becoming an important part of your daily workflow. Topics will include the types of MAM systems, how to deploy a MAM system, the archive interface using tape and disk, sample system architectures and integration, and a look at how the enterprise achieves value by implementing the proper and appropriate scale of a MAM system.
