"It's Not a Science Project ... Look at the Pictures"
For the better part of the last two decades the Motion Picture industry has endeavored to create a digital pipeline that can meet and perhaps exceed the film equivalent. Until recently the road has been fraught with significant technical challenges and hurdles. Recent advances in camera technology and other workflow changes are helping return film-making back to an "Art" first rather than "Technology" first approach. Never sitting idle, manufacturers and film-makers continue to push boundaries as new concepts and science enable better and more effective productions. The Cinematographer is uniquely positioned in the production workflow to understand and shape the set of the future. Where are we going? And what tools do we need?
Join the SMPTE Hollywood section, Wednesday September 28th for an evening of discussion with a group of veteran Cinematographers as they discuss the past, present and future of production.
