Laser Projection - Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers

Adoption of high dynamic range production and exhibition solutions such as large format HDR and IMAX displays demand new projection solutions for grading and screening.

Will laser projection by the answer?

What are the advantages?

What are the disadvantages?

Projector manufacturers have long sought to develop products that provide the best possible picture on a screen or surface. Lamps have drawbacks. Theoretically, lasers are superior illumination sources to lamps and bulbs, touting:

Brighter pictures

Lower power consumption

Longer life and less-frequent change

Fewer heavy metals

Expanded color gamut

More flexible systems

Join the SMPTE Hollywood Chapter on February 27th and learn from the industry experts everything you’ll need to know about laser projection and how to support the new display requirements.

Presenters Include:

Bill Beck "The Laser Guy" from Barco

Bill Beck is known widely as “The Laser Guy”, having begun proposing Laser Cinema in 2003; co-founded a Laser engine start-up and since 2014, been the laser ambassador for Barco.  He now promotes the global transition from lamp-based to laser-illuminated cinema.

 and Jean-Philippe Jacquemin

Jean-Philippe Jacquemin is Product Manager Digital Cinema at BARCO where he specialized in laser projection and HDR technology. Jean-Philippe is at the same time an independent documentary director. During the past 3 years he worked in China to develop laser projection in a fast growing environment where stereo 3D is a primordial part of the theatrical release.
