A Tale of Three Formats - Larry Thorpe, Canon USA
Larry Thorpe from Canon will look at three digital image formats that are presently in broad use worldwide. The 2/3-inch format has lasted more than forty years and is central to the emerging 4K UHD broadcast television era. The Super 35mm format transitioned from decades of motion picture film origination to form the core of the new digital cinematography age, and is now flanked by the larger full frame format that also continues as the foundation of high end still photography.
The presentation will examine the three formats in terms of the transition from HD to 4K and beyond – looking into the current state of the art of image resolution, zoom lens focal ranges, HDR and WCG. Creative aspects of image format size in terms of image framing, depth of field, and diffraction will be discussed.
There will be a Q&A Session for everyone to participate and ask the presenter questions.
