The Toronto Section of the SMPTE is pleased to announce that they will be holding their hugely popular BootCamp Technical Seminar this spring in Toronto. This will be the Toronto Sections 18th Technical Seminar and the 2-day event will bring together Canada’s largest technical audience of media technology professionals and industry experts under a common educational theme.
Scheduled for June 5 and 6, 2012 and held at Ryerson University in Toronto, this year’s topical umbrella is “The Expanding Universe of Broadcasting”. Within this arena, presenters will explore new and evolving methods and technologies related to media acquisition, production, presentation and distribution in the professional television and film industries. As these areas continue to broaden with ever-more powerful media toolsets and technology/distribution opportunities the need for SMPTE Toronto’s bi-annual boot camps continues to grow.

Call for Papers: The Organizing Committee is soliciting proposals for technical papers for the BootCamp. Interested authors are invited to submit a one-page abstract (no more than 300 words) including topic heading, paper title, delivery method (presentation, video clip, demonstration), a brief description of the proposed paper's content, name of author/presenter, company, mailing address, telephone/fax numbers, and e-mail address no later than midnight, April 30th, 2012 to firstname.lastname@example.org
Tradeshow: Brought back by popular demand by vendors, the relaxed end-of-day tradeshow concept has proved to be popular with attendees and those who booked booths during our previous events. The tradeshow lasts for 2-3 hours on June 5 following the days papers with food provided for attendees. There will be limited space this year for booths. Each booth includes 10 Foot Frontage, 8 Foot Table (Actual 7.5 ft. * 2 ft.), supplied electricity—power bar, Internet connection and your Company name listed in the promotion for the Tradeshow event.
