Toronto Technical Conference – Update June 11

This is the last email blast with respect to the upcoming Toronto Technical Conference (TTC) 2018.   The Toronto Technical Conference week is upon us.  Here a few last minute notes for review.

Registration for this event will stay opened until June 14th.    We have added single day event tickets for Wednesday (June 13) and Thursday (June 14).  To obtain a ticket please go to - https://smptetoronto-ttc2018.eventbrite.ca.
Onsite registration opens at 8am both days.  The Technical Conference will start at 9am in the George Vari Engineering and Computing Centre, Ryerson University, 245 Church Street.

Please keep in mind the Trade Show event takes place June 13th from 4pm and runs until 8pm.  It is also at Ryerson University (80 Gould Street) in Studio A and Studio B.  This event is open to everyone.  You do not have to be in possession of a Technical Conference badge.  Do spread the word.  Invite your co-workers and colleagues.  At the tradeshow you will see new technologies and product demonstrations while allowing for “getting hands on” with the technology.  Speak to the represented company’s Sales and Engineering teams.  This year we have the following companies participating.  They are Dejero, Solotech, Ross, Applied Electronics, Arista, Sony, AJA, Axle AI, Canon, DSC Labs, FUJIFILM, Fusion Cine, Grass Valley, Lectrosonics, LiveU/DXM Technoligie, Panasonic, Phabrix, Sennheiser, Tektronix and Ward-Beck Systems.  Food and refreshments will be served.  There will be door prizes.  You must be present to win.

Toronto Technical Conference – Update June 04

A few key items to announce for the upcoming Toronto Technical Conference (TTC) 2018.

Tonight (June 4th) the Early Bird pricing will end.  Tomorrow (June 5th) the price increases to $150 for members and $225 for non-members.  To get in on this great deal register at - https://smptetoronto-ttc2018.eventbrite.ca
The conference papers schedule has been organized and is ready for distribution.  Great work done by our Papers Organizing Chair group.  Please find attached the two day schedule in a pdf format.  If changes do occur our website https://www.smpte.org/sections/toronto/toronto-section-toronto-technical-conference-ttc-2018  will have the latest information.

Keep in mind the Trade Show event. It starts immediately following the last presentation on Day 01 and comes complete with complementary refreshments and food. The list of participants in the show includes Sony, Lectrosonic, DSC Labs, Sennheiser, HD Source/Phabrix, Dejero, Solotech, Fusion Cine, AJA, Ward-Beck, DXM Technoligie, Fujinon, Tektronix, Grass Valley, Panasonic and Applied Electronics. The tradeshow includes new technology and product demonstrations allowing attendees to get “hands on” with the technology.

Only a few days left for the Early Bird pricing to the Toronto Technical Conference (TTC) event.  The deadline is May 30th.   June 1st the price increases to $150 for members and $225 for non-members.  To get in on this great deal register at - https://smptetoronto-ttc2018.eventbrite.ca.

Toronto Technical Conference – Update May 14

Toronto Technical Conference – Update May 2

The Toronto Technical Conference (TTC) Eventbrite registration is now open.  Due to technical issues we were delayed by a day.  Because of our technical issues, we are extending the Early Bird pricing until May 30th.

SMPTE Members –

- After May 30 - $150
Non SMPTE Members –

SMPTE Student Members – 
- Free
Non SMPTE Student Members –

- This includes a one year Student SMPTE membership
New to the registration process this year is the requirement for us to charge a HST tax to the ticket purchase price.

An update to the Toronto Technical Conference (formerly known as Boot Camp). The theme is ‘Technologies for Storytelling’.  We will have topics relating to AI (Artificial Intelligence Technology), Advances in Display Technology, Cloud Workflows, HDR (High Dynamic Range), HFR (High Frame Rate), IMF (Interoperable Mastering Format), VR (Virtual Reality) and more.  More information can be found on our website - https://www.smpte.org/sections/toronto/toronto-section-toronto-technical-conference-ttc-2018.  Please bookmark this URL as this will be the place for updated information.

Registration to the conference opens – May 1st, 2018.  The pricing breakdown is -

SMPTE Members –

After May 25 - $150

Non SMPTE Members –

Students –

Call for Papers and Call for Sponsors - EXTENDED

The Toronto Technical Conference (formerly known as Boot Camp) Call for Papers and Call for Sponsorships submission has been extended.  The organizing committee knows this is a busy time of year for all so we felt the need to extend the submission deadlines until after NAB2018.  The date has been extended to April 20th, 2018.  

The theme to this Technical Conference is ‘Technologies for Storytelling’.  This theme will have topic attractions to that relating to AI (Artificial Intelligence Technology), Advances in Display Technology, Cloud Workflows, HDR (High Dynamic Range), HFR (High Frame Rate), IMF (Interoperable Mastering Format), VR (Virtual Reality) and others.

SMPTE Toronto Section announces their 2018 SMPTE Toronto Technical Conference (TTC) held at Ryerson University, George Vari Engineering theatre, June 13-14, 2018.

The 2018 SMPTE Toronto Technical Conference will feature top tier Keynote speakers, paper presentations, and an intimate industry tradeshow with technology demonstrations attracting an audience of engineers, media technology professionals and industry experts.

Some of the current topics being considered are AI and Machine Learning technologies, Cloud workflows, Advances in Display technologies, IMF, Media over IP, VR and Immersive Experiences, HDR, and HFR advances.  As during previous conferences admission to the conference will include catered lunches, coffee breaks, handouts and a conference bag.  The 2018 SMPTE Toronto Technical Conference will kick off the evening before on Tuesday June 12th, with our annual BBQ and facility tour.

The SMPTE Toronto Technical Conference represents a tremendous training and networking opportunity for Canada’s engineering and production community.  This event is open to all, SMPTE members and non-members.  Preferred rates are available to all SMPTE members.  Non-members can join SMPTE to be included in the preferred rate structure at https://www.smpte.org/join .
