Bloomberg Television launched its new state-of-the-art broadcast facility in December 2017, hosted at the organisation’s ground-breaking new European headquarters in the City.
The evening will feature a tour of this stunning facility and the opportunity to learn about Bloomberg’s experience of being one of the first all-IP broadcasters in the world.

The installation is hailed as one of the most technically advanced and agile studio facilities in existence, it incorporates a pioneering uncompressed end-to-end video-over-IP solution featuring Pebble Beach Systems’ Marina automation.
The project was delivered by system integrator dB Broadcast and uses cutting-edge technology to create a flexible, dynamic platform for multiple forms of storytelling.

The meeting is hosted by Peter Storey – Broadcast Manager Bloomberg Television  with presentations from Steve Williams & Tom Lawrence – Senior Engineers Bloomberg Television, describing  the requirements and scope of the installation -how it came into being and how Bloomberg Television now operates

Pebble Beach Systems Tom Gittins CCO will give high level view of market trends and talk about Pebble’s strategy and the role the company has played in the field of automation and integrated channel technology since its foundation 18 years ago.
Daniel Robinson - Head of Product Development will discuss the flexibility of the software-defined channel, and discuss how IP, virtualisation and the cloud are transforming the playout space.

Arista Network's Gerard Phillips will discuss the architectural components and monitoring and measurement techniques that can be combined to give full-spectrum network visibility of an all-IP Broadcast network

Bloomberg Television is Bloomberg Media’s global business and financial television network, available in more than 437 million households worldwide. Bloomberg Television is also delivered to the Bloomberg Terminal, which guides the world’s financial elite with indispensable real-time data, news, and analysis.
The network streams live on Bloomberg’s digital and mobile properties, along with Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Samsung TV and Roku.

The meeting starts at 18h00 with Drinks, Buffet and Networking -
with Peter Storey welcoming SMPTE at 19h00

The doors will be open at 17h50 to allow time to pass though security.

The main entrance is very recessed in  the North East corner of the building

Mansion House (District & Circle)  exit 2 walk along Queen Victoria Street
to far end of the building and turn right into Bucklersbury - entrance on right

Peter Storey –  Bloomberg Television

Peter  is Broadcast Manager at Bloomberg LP covering EMEA and Asia. He completed an HND in Marine Telecommunications at Tyneside Marine and Technical College in 1985, and his first job was with Raytheon Electronics. He travelled the globe for 10 years commissioning civil and military radar systems before joining Bloomberg in 1995.
Here he spent for 10 years in Network Operations before moving to TV Media where he covers all things technical.

Peter's biggest achievement is having been the Media Project Director for the new Bloomberg European HQ which went live early December 2017, a 3 year project which he brought in 4 days early. Peter lives in Hertfordshire with his wife, 3 children and dog

Tom Gittins - Pebble Beach Systems

Tom has been with Pebble Beach Systems since 2006, and previously held the position of Sales Director befre becoming CCO .. With a strong commercial focus and many years of industry experience, Tom has been instrumental in the growth of the company and its product portfolio, and has an excellent track record of accessing new markets and territories. He is well known for his commitment to understanding customer requirements, for his passion for the industry, and for his drive to excel.

Before joining Pebble Beach Systems, Tom was Head of System Sales at Leitch with responsibility for major project sales across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and he started his career in the broadcasting industry at Ampex Corporation in the Recording Media Division.

Tom has 34000 tracks on his ipod and claims to have listened to them all, and rated them! He was Chairman and principal euphonium player in a silver band for many years, and was recruited into the industry in 1988 by the band’s second baritone player who worked at Ampex.

Daniel Robinson - Pebble Beach Systems

Daniel initially joined Pebble as a Customer Support Engineer having archived a 1st class hons degree in Computer Networking from the University of Northumbria. He has helped to deliver many of the most technically challenging projects at Pebble and has risen quickly to hold a pivotal role on the leadership team.
As Head of Product Development he is responsible for the continuous development of Pebble’s automation and channel in a box products for broadcasters and service providers all around the world.
He has a lifelong passion for all things IT-related, and has recently become a father for the first time.

Gerard Phillips - Arista Networks

Gerard is a Systems Engineer at Arista and an experienced broadcast technologist with over 22 years experience driving innovation at S&W. With a focus on the Media and Entertainment vertical, Gerard’s goal is to help bridge the knowledge gap that exists between the Broadcast and IP industries as we make the transition from SDI to IP for Live Production and Playout.
