Demonstration of Field-sequential Color Television
Presented by Cliff Benham
Anyone younger than a certain age may no realize that color television came into being in the mid-20th century, and there were actually several schemes for creating color broadcasts. One system, originally favored by CBS but ultimately not adopted, used a rotating color-wheel in the television set which was synchronized with one at the broadcast station. It sounds crazy but it worked, and Cliff Benham will demonstrate a "breadboard" version. Many, if not most, of us have never seen this legacy technology in operation!. Below is more information:
The NAB building is at the junction of N Street, 18th Street, and Connecticut Avenue, just south of DuPont Circle. There is street parking and garage parking on many blocks in the vicinity - check signs and meters for hours! The closest METRO stops are DuPont Circule (RED Line - two blocks) and Farragut West (ORANGE/BLUE Lines - four blocks).
