Chris Fetner - Director of Content Partner Operations, Netflix

Chris Fetner is Director of Global Content Partners Operations at Netflix. Fetner, a SMPTE member, began his career as an operations manager at a local PBS affiliate in Washington, D.C., and went on to serve as a producer for television programs including the award-winning show "Frontiers of Medicine." He later served as a post-production and operations executive at Discovery Communications, guiding the company's migration to an all-digital workflow, and as VP of Post-Production and technical services at the BBC Worldwide in New York, where he oversaw all technical operations supporting both the cable network BBC America and its distribution to EST, VOD, and SVOD customers. At Netflix, he and his team deploy tools, processes, and knowledge that allow content owners and service vendors to deliver high-quality content to Netflix simply and with efficiency.

Hosted by SMPTE Standards Director Howard Lukk, film director at Pannon Entertainment, the Student Film Showcase will be open to all who attend SMPTE 2014. Because films being featured in the showcase are being processed using Sundog Media Tookit’s cloud software, students will be able to screen their films in the SMPTE-DCP (Digital Cinema Package) format, which provides a stable and future-proof format for digital cinema playback.
