Bob Semmer Memorial Fund
Bob Semmer, friend and leader within the Hollywood post-production community, believed in the warm connection people made as they worked together, through thick and thin. The community recently lost Bob. Support his memory through this memorial fund which will be used to further talent in the post-production and entertainment technology industry.
SMPTE Education Fund
SMPTE needs to attract students to membership to help us grow – and we need the best and brightest in our industry. One of the best ways to do this is to educate college and university students in technical fields about our industry through their membership in SMPTE. Through the Education Fund, SMPTE provides funds and/or recognition through scholarships, academic and professional development grants, educational travel grants, and internship programs.
The Next Century Fund – Centennial Campaign
An internationally recognized and accredited organization, SMPTE has advanced moving-imagery education and engineering across the communications, technology, media, and entertainment industries since 1916.
In 2016, SMPTE celebrated its centennial year and, undoubtedly, the next 100 years will be very different from the first. As the industry evolves, new entrants are challenging every aspect of the media workflow, from technology tools to business models. Every step along the media chain is changing.
With this evolution, SMPTE’s role is becoming even more vital to the industry as standards continue to be fundamental to ongoing interoperability into the future. As the leader in the art, sciences, and craft of the image, sound and metadata ecosystem, SMPTE must continue to expand and enhance its three pillars of activity: Standards, Membership, and Education.
The Louis F. Wolf Jr. Memorial Scholarship
The Louis F. Wolf Jr. Memorial Scholarship is designed to help students further their undergraduate or graduate studies in motion pictures and television, with an emphasis on technology. Students are selected through a rigorous application process. Awards are paid to the accredited educational institution the scholarship winner is attending.
Student Membership Challenge
SMPTE needs to attract students to membership to help us grow – and we need the best and brightest in our industry. One of the best ways to do this is to educate college and university students in technical fields about our industry through their membership in SMPTE. Pay for a student today – gain a great colleague tomorrow!
SMPTE General Fund
Donations to the General Fund gives SMPTE the funds to take advantage of new opportunities for programs that are outside of the Society's budgeted expenses each year, helping to make the Society more responsive to our members' needs.
