General Fund
The foundation of SMPTE lies in our three pillars:  Education, Standards and Membership.  We continually strive to enhance and strengthen these pillars to continue to provide programs and services to over 6,200 members in 64 countries.  The General Fund allows us to make meaningful investments in initiatives that will ensure the advancement and sustainability of our mission and vision.

The Next Century Fund – Centennial Campaign
An internationally recognized and accredited organization, SMPTE has advanced moving-imagery education and engineering across the communications, technology, media, and entertainment industries since 1916.

In 2016, SMPTE will celebrate its centennial year and, undoubtedly, the next 100 years will be very different from the first. As the industry evolves, new entrants are challenging every aspect of the media workflow, from technology tools to business models. Every step along the media chain is changing.

With this evolution, SMPTE’s role is becoming even more vital to the industry as standards continue to be fundamental to ongoing interoperability into the future. As the leader in the art, sciences, and craft of the image, sound and metadata ecosystem, SMPTE must continue to expand and enhance its three pillars of activity: Standards, Membership, and Education.

SMPTE Education Fund
SMPTE needs to attract students to membership to help us grow – and we need the best and brightest in our industry. One of the best ways to do this is to educate college and university students in technical fields about our industry through their membership in SMPTE. Through the Education Fund, SMPTE provides funds and/or recognition through scholarships, academic and professional development grants, educational travel grants, and internship programs.

The Louis F. Wolf Memorial Scholarship
The Louis F. Wolf Memorial Scholarship is designed to help students further their undergraduate or graduate studies in motion pictures and television, with an emphasis on technology. Students are selected through a rigorous application process. Awards are paid to the accredited educational institution the scholarship winner is attending.

Student Membership Challenge
SMPTE needs to attract students to membership to help us grow – and we need the best and brightest in our industry.
