Call for Technical Papers

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers® (SMPTE®), a leader in motion-imaging standards and education for the communications, media, entertainment, and technology industries, is seeking technical papers for the SMPTE 2024 Annual Technical Conference (SMPTE 2024 Media Technology Summit), to be held 21st – 24th of October 2024 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel, 1755 N Highland Ave, Hollywood, California.

As a global hub for media professionals, technologists, and engineers, SMPTE is committed to sharing the cutting-edge digital advancements, facilitating pioneering forums, and encouraging peer engagement and networking at our annual conference.

The upcoming Media Technology Summit will present the latest innovative processes, tools, workflows, interoperability solutions, standards, and various other exciting initiatives driving the industry forward, ensuring unwavering quality in the seamless creation, management, and delivery of media content.

Original, unpublished manuscripts that meet the above goals will undergo multi-peer review when submitted as abstracts. Abstracts should fall within the range of 300 to 400 words and will be accepted from March 4th to May 30th, 2024. Following this period, the conference program committee will conduct peer reviews and notify authors of decisions by June 30th. Submitted abstracts should exhibit clear indications of originality, essential research findings with at least preliminary results, and address technical theory, research, innovation, application, or practice pertinent to evolving technologies within the media and entertainment industry.

Authors of selected papers will be granted the opportunity to present at the world's premier peer-reviewed forum dedicated to the exploration of media and entertainment technology. Furthermore, these manuscripts will automatically be considered for publication in the SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal, subject to a separate post-event peer-review process.

It's important to note that previously published, product-specific, commercial, sales, or promotional papers will not be considered for this conference. We strongly encourage the submission of Student Papers, fostering the next generation of talent and innovation within our industry.
