Tokyo Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS) was launched in 1951 as a private radio station; television broadcasts were added in 1955. The largest private network in Japan, TBS boasts a 28-station television network, the Japan News Network (JNN), as well as the 33-station radio network that forms up the Japan Radio Network (JRN).TBS Broadcast Center is located in downtown Tokyo, referred to as 'Big Hat' because of the hat-shaped antenna deck on its roof.
