Internetworking, Routing & Switching Programs
IP and Networking have become a priority for our industry. As such, SMPTE has partnered with Cisco to offer world-class networking courses designed to provide each learner with deep theory and practical application of internetworking concepts and principles.
Each course includes online, interactive lessons, Packet Tracer Network Simulator Application, Packet Tracer Lab Assignments, and access to the global Cisco Academy Connection** contains resources for registered course participants and alumni. These are supported by live, weekly online instructor coaching sessions.
These are intensive courses and require a significant investment of time and self-discipline. Participants may spend a minimum of 10 to 20 hours per week on course activities depending on the individual’s level of knowledge and expertise.
SMPTE is one of a global network of Cisco Networking Academies. Course materials are written and produced by Cisco but offered and delivered by SMPTE and its instructors.
Important Notes: The use of Cisco’s Packet Tracer software is required to succeed in CCNA, but the software is incompatible with Mac computers. If you are unable to participate in CCNA from a Windows or Linux machine, previous course participants indicate they successfully ran Packet Tracer by installing Virtual Machine (VM) software on their Mac. This allows Windows emulation which does support running Packet Tracer.
Completing any or all of the CCNA courses does not count towards CCNA Certification. These courses are intended to assist in preparation for the certification exam, which is administered separately. SMPTE does not administer CCNA Certification exams.
NOTE: Everything you need to complete this course successfully is found in the SMPTE Virtual Classroom and Cisco’s NetAcad websites. If you would like to purchase a hard copy or e-book for this course, they may be purchased at either Cisco Press or Amazon. Direct links to purchase or download the books can be found on your registration confirmation.
Any of SMPTE's Virtual Classroom courses are available as private sessions for organizations. Contact us for details about private course options and with any curriculum questions.
If you register, but cannot attend and would like your registration fee applied to a future course, please contact us. A $75 transfer fee will apply.
If you cannot meet your course deadline, you can request an extension. A $100 extension fee will apply. Please contact us to ask for an extension.
Refunds will be issued for cancellations made at least three weeks prior to the course start date, less a 10% ($100 for CCNA courses) cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued after that time.
