Welcome to the SMPTE Sum-Up, the weekly publication that details the recent and current events of your favorite standards development organization. Recently at SMPTE:
Happy New Year, SMPTE Members! We hope all of you had a great holiday season. We have a lot of plans for 2026, and we’re excited to share those plans with you as they begin to take shape. Until then:
SMPTE introduced the board officers and regional governors who will serve terms beginning in January 2026. The new SMPTE officers include SMPTE Membership Vice President Chris Lapp and SMPTE Finance Vice President Troy English. One SMPTE officer, Raymond Yeung, will be continuing his service as SMPTE Standards Vice President and for another two-year term.
The Content Provenance and Authenticity (CPA) Study Group has a brand-new public survey! The survey’s goal is to identify gaps in current standards, explore interoperability with emerging technologies such as C2PA, and inform future SMPTE work that supports secure, verifiable, and trustworthy media production. It will also ask for user stories during the survey. Standards also wants the Society to check out our new and improved recently published document page.
SMPTE would like to welcome our new and returning corporate members, Imagine Communications, Telestream, inc, and Belden!
The SMPTE Job Board has been updated!
That’s it for this week’s SMPTE Sum-Up. For more information on past and current events, standards projects, and webcasts, visit our website. See you next week when we cover even more SMPTE events!
