Welcome to the SMPTE Sum-Up, the weekly publication that details the recent and current events of your favorite standards development organization. Recently at SMPTE:

SMPTE Washington DC held an event called “CBNE entitled: Software Defined WAN.” The event detailed the transition from RF STLs and legacy WAN technologies to Software Defined-WAN as the infrastructure for radio stations like iHeart. Lead by Dan Merwin of CBNE, Denver, this meeting discussed the benefits and challenges of these transitions.

SMPTE New York held a review of the 2025 NAB Show. The event was held at the Dolby Theater, and featured a breakdown of the most innovative technology, solutions, and organizations this year’s NAB had to offer.

SMPTE Standards has several updates, including a new survey that will help improve the SMPTE Standards Community. Fill out the survey here. Standards also wants the Society to check out our new and improved recently published document page.
