Welcome to the SMPTE Sum-Up, the weekly publication that details the recent and current events of your favorite standards development organization. Recently at SMPTE:

IBC began last night, and SMPTE has shown up in a big way. We are hosting many special sessions, all of which are listed here. SMPTE staff are also available and eager to talk with attendees. We can be found at Booth 3.A44 and 8.F55f. We are also partnering with BT Media and Broadcast for a special drinks & networking event on Sunday, which attendees can register for here. Hope to see you there!

The SMPTE UK Section visited Amazon’s UK headquarters for an evening focused on Media in the Cloud. This pre-IBC meeting was an excellent appetizer for those traveling to Amsterdam for the big event. The evening included David Mitchinson from Techex and Ian Trow from Sky discussing different aspects of Cloud media, as well as Michael Rack from the Amazon Kuiper team discussing their new Low Earth Orbit satellite system.

The Content Provenance and Authenticity (CPA) Study Group has a brand-new public survey! The survey’s goal is to identify gaps in current standards, explore interoperability with emerging technologies such as C2PA, and inform future SMPTE work that supports secure, verifiable, and trustworthy media production. It will also ask for user stories during the survey. Standards also wants the Society to check out our new and improved recently published document page.

SMPTE would like to welcome our new and returning corporate members, DekTek, European Broadcasting Union, Intelligent Wave, Inc., and the Library of Congress!
