Welcome to the SMPTE Sum-Up, the weekly publication that details the recent and current events of your favorite standards development organization. Recently at SMPTE:
IBC wrapped up earlier this week, and SMPTE leadership had a fruitful time there. With numerous sessions and networking events, including the BT Media & Broadcast event that took place on Sunday, the entirety of IBC was a wonderful showcase of everything SMPTE has to offer the industry. We can’t wait to attend again next year!
The September Technology Committee Meetings kicked off this week. With both in-person and virtual attendance options, the Standards community was able to showcase everything they were working on to a global audience. The in-person meetings took place in the Warsaw University of Technology in Poland, and attendees got to soak in the culture of the nation in their down time.
The Content Provenance and Authenticity (CPA) Study Group has a brand-new public survey! The survey’s goal is to identify gaps in current standards, explore interoperability with emerging technologies such as C2PA, and inform future SMPTE work that supports secure, verifiable, and trustworthy media production. It will also ask for user stories during the survey. Standards also wants the Society to check out our new and improved recently published document page.
