Welcome to the SMPTE Sum-Up, the weekly publication that details the recent and current events of your favorite standards development organization. Recently at SMPTE:

The Television Academy has announced SMPTE, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and Video Services Forum (VSF) is receiving a 2025 Emmy® for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering, Science & Technology for the development of SMPTE ST 2110. It will be awarded at the 77th Engineering, Science & Technology Emmy® Awards! We are both thrilled and thankful to receive this honor. Thank you to the Television Academy and to all our leaders and members for making SMPTE an innovative force in the industry for over a century. We couldn't have done it without you!

The Content Provenance and Authenticity (CPA) Study Group has a brand-new public survey! The survey’s goal is to identify gaps in current standards, explore interoperability with emerging technologies such as C2PA, and inform future SMPTE work that supports secure, verifiable, and trustworthy media production. It will also ask for user stories during the survey. Standards also wants the Society to check out our new and improved recently published document page.

The SMPTE Rocky Mountain Section held a meeting entitled “Next-Gen Broadcast Tech: Inside MTVG with SMPTE!” The event consisted of a facility tour of MTVG’s mobile division and Mountain Media Center as well as an exclusive visit to the VID30 network operations center and MTVG’s new NOC. This eventful tour was followed by a live Q&A. Everyone who attended certainly got their steps in.
