Happy New Year, and welcome to the SMPTE Sum-Up, the weekly publication that details the recent and current events of your favorite standards development organization. This week at SMPTE:
The 2024 SMPTE Change Campaign is well underway, and many of our members were able to attend this week’s special session on SMPTE’s new membership benefits! Members had a chance to see how our Standards, self-study courses, and the new & improved Motion Imaging Journal can be accessed. There was also a lively Q&A. Those who still have questions about our new benefits can contact membership@smpte.org. You can watch the webinar here!
The SMPTE Sacramento Section held a meeting on January 18th on NDI and SMPTE ST-2110. The meeting compared both Standards and how they worked for video over IP for on-premises infrastructure and video over WAN/cloud. Lead by John Shike and Sam Craig, the meeting was full of great information and even some networking fun!
Registration is still open for the inaugural Power of Color Symposium. From now until Jan 24, you can use the code POC24ATL get 20% off registration! The event will take place Feb 6-7 at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia, and will detail advancements in color science. The symposium will cover topics like representation in animation, how AI can help accurately depict skin tones, and much more. Register now!
