Brian Bentley

Dr. Brian Bentley serves as the Associate Dean for the School of Arts & Sciences and Assistant Professor within the department of Mass Media arts. His academic credentials span over 20 years in higher education. Dr. Bentley has held administrative positions such as Associate Dean for Arts & Sciences, Campus Director of Academic Operations, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and Department Chair for Digital Filmmaking/ Video Production & Visual Effects and Motion Graphics. He has also served in the role of Co-Director of Broadcast Training for Radio, Television, and Film and Fulltime Faculty. In addition to his educational background, Dr. Bentley has worked in the field of media in roles as a Television News Producer while sharing time in Production. Furthermore, he has worked in the post-production industry as a Film Colorist.

Dr. Bentley believes in incorporating both theoretical and practical classroom experiences for students. His research interest exploring various uses of technology and the impact it has on student engagement. Dr. Bentleys’ teaching credentials range in areas such as television, radio, film, journalism, and video games. He currently holds a Doctorate in Instructional Leadership from Argosy University, M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Full Sail University, MBA from Purdue University Global, M.A in Mass Communications from Southern University, B.A. in Broadcasting from Southern University, and a Certificate in Game Design from Full Sail University.

Additional contributions, Dr. Bentley is also an independent filmmaker. He has both produced & directed several media projects in areas of a long-form documentary and feature film. Furthermore, Dr. Bentley has several documentary projects in the pipeline.

Dr. Bentley is also a member of several professional organizations such as the Broadcast Education Association (BEA), Society of Motion Pictures & Television Engineers (SMPTE), National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Southeast Chapter, International Game Developers Association (Atlanta Chapter), National Association of Mathematicians, and Association of Women in Mathematics.
