CTO & SVP Product Development - Ross Video

I have been in the broadcast/live production industry for 28 years, starting with my first job as a software developer working on production switchers. Since then, I have spent all my career developing and creating dozens of products for the industry in collaboration with end users all over the world and have been the CTO for Ross for 10+ years. I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the best engineers in the industry and in doing so now have a technical Emmy award as well as 9 patents. The incredibly wide portfolio of products that Ross is involved in has allowed me to get exposure to an incredibly varied set of technology from real time video and audio processing, AI/ML, cloud computing and robotics to name a few. This varied background allows me to contribute on manyareas that SMPTE is involved in. Along with Jeff Moore at Ross, we created a brand new SMPTE Subsection in Ottawa to help share our passion for the industry within the nation’s capital. Going forward, SMPTE needs to be at the forefront of emerging technologies and production techniques. With almost 30 years of experience in developing technology for the industry, as well as being very actively involved in creating the next set of technologies, I have much to offer to the community. Working with the board and SMPTE members, I would like to ensure that membership continues to be driven, especially among new student members and that co-ordination and collaboration between the Canadian Sections is strengthened.
