Misuse of SMPTE Intellectual Property

SMPTE is dedicated to keeping its members and authors safe from the misuse of their intellectual property.  Misuse of SMPTE intellectual property not only hurts SMPTE as an organization, but also SMPTE members, subscribers, and authors. For example:

Unauthorized reproduction, distribution and sharing of SMPTE content may be a violation of copyright law.
SMPTE content from other sources may be unreliable; SMPTE content found on our digital library is the version of record.
The reproduction and distribution of infringing copies of SMPTE intellectual property can impact the financial stability of SMPTE.

Therefore, SMPTE monitors for various forms of intellectual property misuse. For example, SMPTE staff members track usage reporting and employ the use of real-time monitoring tools to detect excessive usage or sharing of SMPTE accounts. When cases of possible misuse surface, the individual is notified and is expected to take measures to ensure SMPTE content is being protected and used appropriately. In cases of extreme misuse, access may be suspended or terminated. Should you become aware of any unauthorized use of SMPTE intellectual property, please contact infringement@ieee.org.
