Guest Speaker: David Vargas
Dr. David Vargas is a Senior Research Engineer at the BBC working on 5G technologies for media distribution. He is currently a 3GPP RAN1 Feature Lead on NR MBS (Multicast Broadcast Services) work item and a 3GPP delegate representing the BBC. He has experience in the standardization of the mobile broadcasting standard DVB-NGH and the terrestrial broadcasting standard ATSC 3.0. Dr. Vargas is the Chair of the Content Distribution – Technology Working Group of the 5G-MAG (Media Action Group) association bridging the media and ICT industries. He has been a guest researcher at the Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria and at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Telecommunications from Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain and his research interests include multi-antenna communications, signal processing for communications, and wireless communications.
