Prof Murroni

BIO: (M. ’02, SM. ‘13) is associate professor of Telecommunications at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (DIEE) of the University of Cagliari. He is a member of the National Interuniversity Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT) for which from 2011-2019 he was scientific director of the research unit at the University of Cagliari. He received a MSc. in Electronic Engineering in 1998 and a PhD in Electronic and Computer Engineering in 2001 at the University of Cagliari. He was visiting scholar at the School of Electronic Engineering, Information Technology and Mathematics, University of Surrey, Guildford, UK in 1998 and at the Image Processing Group at Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, New York, USA, in 2000. In 2006 and 2014 he was visiting professor at the Department of Electronics and Computers of the University of Transylvania in Brasov in Romania, in 2011 at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, Faculty of Engineering of Bilbao, University of the Basque Country (UPV / EHU) in Spain and in 2020 at Kingston University in London, UK. In 2016 he founded the Italian chapter of the Broadcast Technology Society (BTS) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE). Since 2018 he has been distinguished lecturer for BTS on the topic quality of experience (QoE) for advanced broadcast services. Prof. Murroni is co-author of an extensive list of articles published in journals and on international conference proceedings and has received numerous awards and recognitions. He has served as chair for various international conferences and workshops. He is co-author of 1900.6-2011 - IEEE Standard for Spectrum Sensing Interfaces and Data Structures for Dynamic Spectrum Access and other Advanced Radio Communication Systems and associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting. His research focuses on QoEHbbTV, multi sensorial media, broadcast/multicast delivery on 5G networks. Prof. Murroni is a senior member of the IEEE.
