Description

Our next SMPTE Ohio Section meeting combined with the SBE Chapter 52, will take place on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026, at the WSYX Television studio plant, located at 1261 Dublin Road, Columbus OH 43215. Convenient free parking is located adjacent to the building.

The always popular refreshments period will begin at 7:15PM and the combined meeting will begin at 7:45PM.

The guest speaker for the evening will be Dave Arland, who has a diverse career in the electronics and broadcast industry over the years as well as, a member of various related standards committees. Dave's principal topics and discussions during the evening meeting will center around the current and expected future, state of the NextGen, ATSC 3.0 terrestrial TV broadcast transmission standards, which offer an exciting variety of new local origination broadcast services and enhancements over the legacy ATSC 1.0 capacities.

Due to the fact that the Columbus Ohio metro area has recently been designated by various industry associations as the FIRST ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV TEST market, his discussions will also be covering some of those recent introduction activities and viewer responses being promoted by WSYX, a Sinclair O&O TV station, since last June.

This summer meeting will also offer you an outstanding opportunity to observe a detailed projected model image of a dedicated ATSC 3.0 NextGen terrestrial TV broadcast station of the future, within Dave's slide presentation! Hope to see everyone possible there on July 15th!
