The Bill Lovell Lecture is an annual event celebrating the life and work of a SMPTE member. The 2026 lecture is given by Andy Quested. Join us as we hear Andy's personal perspective on a career in the broadcast, production and standards industry.

Doors open at 6pm for ample refreshments and networking. The event starts at 7.00pm and ends at 8.30pm, with further networking and refreshments to 9.30pm. As is SMPTE UK North tradition, post-event informal networking will then continue in a nearby pub.
Just like all SMPTE UK events, this meeting is open to existing professionals and students alike. Attendance is free of charge. Ample refreshments will be provided. If you're a student, we can help with your travel costs to get to the meeting. Get in touch with us.
