Special Online Event TOWN HALL! 

This 90 minute event will focus on the state of the industry across a variety of topics with known SMPTE members from around the world.  ALL are invited from near and far.  This will be an interactive event with Q&A.  Block your calendar now! Registration to come.

Our theme, “Stump the Snyder” will feature SMPTE's very own James Snyder, hosted by John Footen and moderated by Jonathan Solomon. This will be an interactive discussion with attendees - bring your 'legacy' film and tv equipment, tapes, stock and see if you can stump James! . It will be fun!

JOHN FOOTEN

John Footen is a leader in Deloitte’s M&E practice with over 30 years of experience in the industry. In his role at Deloitte, John works with a wide variety of broadcasters, studios, telecom companies and the firms that serve them. His client work focuses on technology strategy, media systems architecture and design, roadmaps, innovation and digital.

John has served chaired multiple SMPTE technology committees. He was a recipient of the SMPTE Medal for Workflow Systems and was named a Fellow of SMPTE. He is also the co-author of the book, “The Service-Oriented Media Enterprise: SOA, BPM, and Web Services in Professional Media Systems,” as well as numerous articles in industry journals and magazines.

JONATHAN SOLOMON

Jonathan is a Principal Partner Solutions Architect at AWS with more than 25 years experience in Media and Broadcast. Prior to joining AWS, he worked with Aspera, an IBM Company. His vast experience in broadcast and IP allows him to routinely bridge the two worlds. Career highlights include the first live HD video transmission over commodity internet from Cuba, architecting the WWE OTT Network, and project design and management for several multi-million dollar broadcast facilities and dark fiber networks.
