It's all about the metadata! Whether we each realize it or not, file-based workflows are at the center of audiovisual content production and distribution - in other words, the way that we all access today's multimedia entertainment experiences! Key to those workflows is metadata - and PBCore is one way to unlock the door!

We’re thrilled to feature Rebecca Fraimow, Archivist at WGBH (Boston’s public media outlet), to talk about how the public media community shares, manages, and preserves their audiovisual content using PBCore.

PBCore is one of the earliest (since 2001) and most developed metadata schema (i.e. a structured method of description) for audiovisual content.

Rebecca will introduce basic concepts of audiovisual metadata, including how PBCore records are structured in XML; the role of controlled vocabularies; and best practices for recording key descriptive and technical characteristics of media assets.

She will demonstrate available tools for creating metadata records in PBCore.

We certainly miss gathering in person, though we hope you can join us online June 18!  Log in here to register.
