Montréal / Québec chapter
32nd edition golf tournament

Home Page

It is with great enthusiasm that the executive committee of the SMPTE Montreal/Quebec Chapter continues the tradition and invites you to participate in the 32nd edition of its annual golf tournament, which will take place on Thursday, August 13. Yes, that’s right—it’s on Thursday.

WHAT! We're moving? !!!!

Where? At the Le Parcours du Cerf  golf club  in Longueuil

That’s right, our tournament is moving. Although our tournament has been held at Golf des Îles de Boucherville for over 20 years, this year we’ve decided to make a major change.

Without going into details, over the past few years we’ve noticed that the quality of the course, as well as the offerings at both the 9½ snack bar and the clubhouse terrace, and the selection of dinner options, have declined.

For all these reasons, and after careful consideration, Daniel and I set out to find a high-quality golf club with adequate amenities and located within a reasonable distance from Montreal.

After some research and a site visit, Parcours du Cerf seemed like the obvious choice for the following reasons:

  • Professional-quality courseDirect access to the course (no ferry required)
  • Covered outdoor terrace
  • High-quality pro shop
  • Rental of standard or premium clubs
  • Restaurant open from 7:00 AM for breakfast
  • Easy access without having to deal with traffic congestion in the Louis-Hippolyte Lafontaine Tunnel:
    • The club is located in Longueuil, just minutes from Highway 20
    • From Montreal, it is accessible via the Mercier, Champlain, Victoria, or Jacques-Cartier bridges, then:
      • via Route 132 and Highway 20 East, or
      • via Route 132, Roland Therrien Boulevard, and Fernand Lafontaine Boulevard

This change of club also brings a few adjustments to our old routines:

  • Professional-quality course
  • First tee times: 11:30 a.m.
  • Staggered tee times. To cut the time spent on the course in half, half of the players will start their 18-hole round in single file from hole #1, while the other half will start simultaneously from hole #9
  • Given the later start time for the first tee-offs, dinner will begin around 6:30–7:00 PM to still allow for an enjoyable networking period upon our return
  • Despite these changes, the format remains Vegas—best ball.

Of course, we’re keeping all our contests—such as ball in the water, ball in the sand, etc.—as well as our photography and ball speed measurement sponsorships.

FORM YOUR OWN QUARTET OR LET US “PUT ONE TOGETHER” FOR YOU!!!
Space is limited. It’s important to register early because
an “Early Bird” discount is available for registrations

The registration deadline is Wednesday, July 29.

As in previous years, we are offering you the opportunity to let us know your preferred departure time. However, due to staggered departures, departures will be spread out from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at 8-minute intervals. You may therefore indicate your preference as early, mid, or late. First come, first served. We will assume that those who do not indicate a preference have, in fact, no preference...

For dinner, we will automatically seat players at one or more adjacent tables for groups of two or more foursomes.

We hope you’ll enjoy the change.

We look forward to seeing you there.
