Course Overview
The SMPTE ST 2110 suite of standards has transformed professional media production by enabling the transport of video, audio, and ancillary data over high-performance IP networks. By moving to an all-IP media environment, broadcasters and media organizations can evolve their systems without replacing core infrastructure every time new media formats emerge.
This course provides a technical overview to SMPTE ST 2110 standard. It is designed for engineers, developers and technologists who already have a basic understanding of IP networking and want to build their knowledge before moving into implementation and development.
Serving as a more theoretical deep dive course it helps learners understand the concepts, terminology, and architecture behind ST 2110.
We rather recommend participants to be prepared for the move to IP in a practical way by attending in either:
- Understanding SMPTE ST 2110, or
- SMPTE ST 2110 Bootcamp
Throughout the course, learners will explore how video, audio, and data are carried across IP networks, how systems remain synchronized, and how traffic is shaped to ensure reliable, real-time media delivery, unlocking the full potential of IP-based production workflows.
