Course Overview

As a standard for both over-the-air Broadcast and Broadband internet delivery, ATSC 3.0 is the future of broadcast television. ATSC 3.0 receivers are now available, and broadcast stations are launching across the US and South Korea.

In this course, participants will see a high-level system overview, and new video and audio capabilities and how they will work with smart Applications. Discussed are the basic principles and advanced techniques of audio and video compression, how internet protocols have been adapted to broadcasting and the new digital transmission systems. and their capabilities to send multiple bitstreams with a flexible choice of data rates and reception robustness.

Prerequisites:

Participants should be familiar with IP and audio and video compression.

Discuss use cases and broadcast functionality that is enabled by the ATSC 3.0 System
Explain the core technology elements which comprise ATSC 3.0
Describe how ATSC 3.0 is different from other content delivery systems
Specify the design criteria for configuration of an ATSC 3.0 system that meets a specific broadcast deployment scenario
Explain the benefits and trade- offs of various ATSC 3.0 system implementations
Outline the steps required to transition to an ATSC 3.0 system, including planning design, purchasing and installation
