Post Production Engineer in New York City Metropolitan Area at idc - International Digital Centre

International Digital Centre is looking for an Engineer/Encoding Specialist to join our Technical Team and support our cutting-edge technologies. The applicant must have excellent experience within a Post-Production environment, work autonomously, be highly motivated, mobile, enthusiastic and focused. 

Key responsibilities include: 

Experience with Netflix workflows.

Apple, Amazon, Hulu & other streaming services.
Consult on workflow set-up and support including media delivery, file encoding, localization and QC, etc. 
Provide first line support to Pro-Tools Audio Suites, Edit suites, Color Grading and Encoding Workstations. 
Responsible for the smooth operation of Post-Production for the facility acting as frontline support for troubleshooting and technical diagnostics. 
Install, troubleshoot and support various systems and applications in Audio, Edit and Encoding environments – in particular the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite, Avid Media Composer/Symphony, Pro Tools, DVS Clipster (IMF / DCP Creation) and DaVinci Resolve.
Provide support with comprehensive knowledge and expertise across Linux, MacOS and Windows workstations and system administration.
Document systems, workflows and maintain desktop & server OSes, Applications and Systems firmware updates.

Skills and Experience 

Proven experience in similar roles: Editing, Audio, Encoding, IMF / DCP creation. 

Knowledge of 4K/HDR workflows. 
Clear understanding of a variety of audio and video CODECS, wrappers and the formats involved in file-based workflows. 
Experience in secure file sharing technologies – Aspera Point-to-Point, Faspex. 
Experience of working with media asset management systems is preferred.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Key responsibilities:

·        Manage the IT Department. This includes personnel and technology resources.

·        Onsite level 1 & 2 support of the IDC’s desktop hardware & software (Windows 10, and Mac OSX), printers, other infrastructure components and business applications.

·        Network troubleshooting and maintenance i.e Cisco switch management & Sophos firewall. Punch down and crimp Ethernet cables.

·        Manage Ubuntu and CentOS file servers.

·        Security improvements and monitoring, i.e Sophos Firewall, Sophos Central AV, PRTG, Syslog. Manage network security with MPAA/TPN framework in mind.

·        Active directory user and group management

·        Manage AWS services and billing.

·        Windows and MS Office Patch management

·        Ensure timely resolution of IT Department tickets

The preferred candidate will have:

·        Minimum 5 years of IT experience in a video/audio/multimedia Post Production environment and be eager to learn new technologies while testing and implementing new ways of improving efficiency in the IT Department. 

·        Experience working in teams and managing a small department.

·        Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Server 2012 and 2016, Windows Hyper V and Microsoft Failover cluster, Windows 10 and Mac OS X. 

·        Excellent troubleshooting skills with Cisco IOS, VLANS, Cisco ACLs, port security, firewall rules and MAC filtering. 

·        The Linux skills necessary to monitor and maintain CentOS and Ubuntu servers.

·        Experience using SSH and the command line for console access to firewalls, switches and Linux servers.

·        Working experience troubleshooting firewalls such as Sophos.

·        Experience with site-to-site VPN and SSL VPN, SSL certificates and web-filtering.

·        Excellent knowledge of Ethernet networking, ip subnetting, cable drops and termination. 

·        Experience using Linux/BASH and Powershell.

·        Familiarity with MPAA and TPN requirements preferred.

Teaching Artist, filmmaking

Fresh Films is in need of a Teaching Artist to help mentor and guide youth in the art of
filmmaking through The Fresh Films Career Path program. We are looking for a filmmaking
professional local to the Jersey City area who can run filmmaking curriculum once a week for
high school youth from January 2020 - May 2020.
The Career Path program engages diverse at-risk teens in an 5-month filmmaking program that
builds creative and technical skills. Skills training and internships further youth along a career
path to becoming the industry’s future filmmakers. This program is organized through our
partnership with Best Buy and will take place at Best Buy Teen Tech Center in Jersey City.
The weekly program will take place from January 2020 - May 2020. Teens will take part in the
weekly filmmaking lessons throughout the school year and then join Fresh Films for an
apprenticeship on the set of a feature film during Summer 2020. After participating in the on-set
apprenticeship, the same teens will be placed into media or film related internships.
Experience/Qualifications:
● Well-rounded generalists with experience in the film industry
● Any experience in the film industry is welcome as long as the candidates are comfortable
teaching filmmaking in general (lights, cameras, audio, etc.)
● People who are well-versed in traditional filmmaking technology and the filmmaking
process
● Able to instruct high school students
● Must pass a background check in order to work directly with teens
● Must be comfortable working with teens
● Experience in editing and using editing software is also a huge plus!:

Pay will range from $20-$40 per hour depending on level of experience, and lessons take place once a week on Fridays from 4:30pm - 7pm.
