SMPTE Sections

Currently, SMPTE has 25 local sections worldwide, hosting more than 200 meetings, tutorials and workshops each year. Each Section elects officers and plans its own technical program, which allows each section to steer its own path of topics. Upon joining SMPTE, you are placed in a section based on your geographic location.

Starting a SMPTE Section

Any group of at least 50 members from one area may petition the Society's Board of Governors to form a new Section. Simply gather the names of 50 members and submitted the petition and SMPTE will begin the process of establishing a new section.
