We are honoured to have Pierre Hugues Routhier of CBC presenting at our December 9 meeting. A former aerospace engineer, Pierre is credited with more than a dozen patents related to advanced imaging and has been published in several industry papers. He is the author of the “Digital Troublemaker Guide” series of books, which delve into HDR, Immersive Technologies and Broadcasting Engineering and the instructor for SMPTE’s online HDR course.

Synopsis: TV set and production manufacturers continue to promote higher resolution and quality video standards. What are the impacts on the production and distribution of TV content? Specifically, is higher resolution (4K and 8K) worth it or should content producers focus instead on progressive and high dynamic range (HDR) formats instead.
