Welcome to the SMPTE Sum-Up, the weekly publication that details the recent and current events of your favorite standards development organization. Recently at SMPTE:

SMPTE New York welcomed in the new season in a festive way with their annual Fall picnic on Governor’s Island! Focusing more on the fellowship, this annual celebrations is a great opportunity for the good folks of SMPTE New York to catch-up, relax, and eat/drink to heart’s content. It’s truly one of the most looked forward to events the section hosts.

The 2025 Media Technology Summit is just 9 days away and there’s still time to register! This four-day conference features in-depth technical sessions on the hottest topics in the industry, live demos of various workflows from the biggest names in the industry, and plenty of networking opportunities so you can support your career! Students can gain access to the conference for just $25 per-day, allowing them to take part in all of our new programming, including:

The Content Provenance and Authenticity (CPA) Study Group has a brand-new public survey! The survey’s goal is to identify gaps in current standards, explore interoperability with emerging technologies such as C2PA, and inform future SMPTE work that supports secure, verifiable, and trustworthy media production. It will also ask for user stories during the survey. Standards also wants the Society to check out our new and improved recently published document page.
