The SMPTE Sum-Up 7-26-2025

November 11, 2025

Welcome to the SMPTE Sum-Up, the weekly publication that details the recent and current events of your favorite standards development organization. Recently at SMPTE:

SMPTE Hollywood held a Virtual Production event this week. The event presented descriptions and demonstrations of how front projection could be an alternative to LED walls for Virtual Production. The panel of experts commented on the history of Virtual Production, as well as recent developments that could transform the industry as we know it.

SMPTE Hong Kong participated in BIRTV, China’s leading event for the broadcast, film, and television industry. Presented by Tony Ngai, SMPTE’s presentation included the We Are One campaign, as well as the benefits of SMPTE membership, and examples of work and meetings produced by SMPTE Hong Kong. It was a great opportunity to connect with fellow professionals, explore the latest in media technology, and strengthen SMPTE's presence in the region.

SMPTE Standards has several updates, including a new survey that will help improve the SMPTE Standards Community. Fill out the survey here. Standards also wants the Society to check out our new and improved recently published document page.

SMPTE would like to welcome our new and returning corporate member, Quest GMBH!
